FIRST FRIDAY | MARGO MULLEN

For the month of July, Artisans & agency is excited to feature the joyful and vibrant work of Margo Mullen. Come meet Margo and see her delightful robots, sure to bring a smile to your face, on the First Friday on July from 6-8pm.

Margo Mullen is an artist whose work explores the intersection of public art, community engagement, and social practice. She received her MFA in Public Practice from Otis College of Art and Design, where she was awarded Outstanding Contribution to College and Community, and her BA in Visual and Public Art from California State University, Monterey Bay in the program co-founded by Judy Baca and Suzanne Lacy. For over a decade, her practice has been rooted in working with communities through muraling, teaching, and collaborative public projects.

Margo’s work has been commissioned by the Oakland Museum of California and Valley Children’s Memorial Hospital, and exhibited at the National Steinbeck Center. She has also participated in community-based projects such as the 90404 project with the 18th Street Arts Center. Her collaborative practice includes assisting Suzanne Lacy on international projects in Quito, Dublin, and Pendle, addressing women’s rights and social change through large-scale public engagement.

Margo has completed public art projects throughout California, including the design and installation of traffic signal utility boxes in Santa Cruz County, bringing vibrant, community-centered artwork into everyday public spaces.
