Born in Paris, Marie Gabrielle studied textile design and worked as a designer and colorist before moving to California, where a first watercolor class began a lifelong passion for the medium. Her ties to both California and France come through especially well in scenes of Provence, where color and changing light do much of the storytelling. Most of her paintings are created en plein air, and her work is internationally recognized and collected. Marie lives in Santa Cruz with her family and spends as much time as possible in Provence, France.
