Montana De Oro is adapted from the work of block printmaker Yoshiko Yamamoto, whose bold compositions blend Japanese design sensibility with fine craftsmanship. Nawal Motawi admired Yamamoto’s work and saw how naturally her strong lines could translate into raised ceramic tile. Handmade in Motawi Tileworks’ Ann Arbor studio, the piece carries the color, dimension, and careful craft that have defined the studio since 1992.
