This Sunflower tile is adapted from the work of English Arts and Crafts designer William De Morgan, whose floral imagery has an unmistakable hand-drawn quality. Motawi translates the design into its own raised-line ceramic process, giving the sunflower rich color and dimension while keeping the spirit of De Morgan’s original work. Handmade in Motawi Tileworks’ Ann Arbor studio, the piece carries the color, dimension, and careful craft that have defined Nawal Motawi’s tilework since 1992.
