Born in Paris, Marie Gabrielle studied textile design and worked as a designer and colorist before moving to California, where a first watercolor class began a lifelong passion for the medium. Nature and the play of light are at the center of her watercolor practice, whether she is painting the California coast, local landscapes, or scenes from France. Most of her paintings are created en plein air, and her work is internationally recognized and collected. Marie lives in Santa Cruz with her family and spends as much time as possible in Provence, France.
