Born in Paris, Marie Gabrielle studied textile design and worked as a designer and colorist before moving to California, where a first watercolor class began a lifelong passion for the medium. Her Santa Cruz scenes are especially rooted in close observation of the coast, neighborhoods, and changing light she has known for years. Most of her paintings are created en plein air, and her work is internationally recognized and collected. Marie lives in Santa Cruz with her family and spends as much time as possible in Provence, France.
