California Oak is adapted from the work of block printmaker Yoshiko Yamamoto, whose bold compositions blend Japanese design sensibility with fine craftsmanship. Nawal Motawi admired Yamamoto’s work and saw how naturally her strong lines could translate into raised ceramic tile. It is handmade at Motawi Tileworks in Ann Arbor, Michigan, a studio known for richly colored, dimensional ceramic work.
