Nature, sunlight, and a little bit of magic come together in these handmade botanical earrings by Joanna Lynn Taylor. Joanna creates original cyanotype photograms by arranging native leaves, stems, and petals on specially treated paper and exposing them to the Arizona sun. She then cuts each one-of-a-kind blue-and-white image into small pieces and builds the jewelry from the center out using paper, epoxy resin, and hammered silver.
Because every photogram changes with the plant, season, place, and time of day, no two pairs are exactly alike. The Desert Arboretum collection draws from iconic Southwestern plants such as mesquite, palo verde, turpentine bush, and creosote—wearable little connections to nature, place, and memory.
